Jenny is currently working on her dissertation, conducting an ethnographic study in on one neighborhood in Detroit. This ongoing work explores the changing economic landscape including survival strategies used by women and families living and working in the neighborhood. Some strategies include reliance on social networks which result in elaborate networks of exchange, creating income-generating opportunities in both formal and informal economies in Detroit.
She continues to conduct formal and informal interviews in the neighborhood. She also spends much of her time walking around, observing interactions, drawing maps, taking photographs, learning about the neighborhood, asking questions about the constructions of networks, work and spaces.
